Default When work gets in the way!! Grrr!

So I'm trying to get moving on the second Brother's box, but things keep coming up.
This, for instance. A guy rings me up and says he's buying an IKEA Kitchen and would like a genuine wood 1.5m x 0.84m table top to mount on a metal frame he is making.
Only thing is he wants to use reclaimed (DAR, no nails)Northern Hardwood to make it with.
He arrives with the timber and it looks like OB hardwood with gum pockets and huge gum veins sunning through it.
Oh well, once more into the breach!!
Here's some pics of the timber and early work on the whole top. I am using epoxy ( clear for the big holes and black for the little ones) as filler. I think it is actually going to look good when it is finished with Tung Oil and hard burnished.

Regards,

Rob

Here's the finished table top. It's 1.5m x 0.840m.
The timber was very rough! Two huge Gum pockets and many strips of gum up and down the boards. In addition it had a number of nail holes, cut outs and scars.

And this is the result. The gum pockets have been filled with crystal clear Casting resin, while the smaller irregularities have been filled with black Araldite.

The finish is Organoil Hard Burnishing Oil sanded dry to 400g, then sanded wet to 4000g

Regards,

Rob

Nice project Rob - if you have to be interrupted, this is as good as any interruption, I suppose. Would have been better if you could have found an excuse to buy new equipment, though.
