Grain matched box
5 Attachment(s)
This is my first attempt at a 4 sided grain matched box. Final product is not exactly perfect but pretty close. Made from Cherry and finished with Target coatings Poly Carbonate 9300 semi gloss.

The flash makes the corners have a bright line that you do not see in person.

The box will be used as an Urn for my Mother and Father in law. He has been gone several years, I hope she does not think this to morbid.

Beautiful! The grain really flows. How did you do the top?

Re: Grain matched box
Thanks, I cut the top blank and made a quick tenion type jig from scrap ply and a cut off of the top blank, stood it on edge and ran it through the table saw. The top was then rabbited on the underside so it sits down in the box a 1/2 inch. I was worried about how to secure the top but it ended up being kind of a piston fit.

Very nice project! The final resting place will be in a mausoleum?
