Default Memories Box

Thought I'd post some finished pictures of the keepsake box that I made that prompted the "Leigh Jig Resurrection" thread a while ago. I got inspiration from Ted Brown's "Krenov Inspired Memories Box" article in Popular Woodworking, Dec. 2011

It's mostly cherry, made from a single piece I had saved for around 10 years in my shop. What a joy it was to work with being air dried that long. The bottom is made from maple and the top raised panel is ambrosia maple. The smaller box is cherry that I splined mitered and has a curly maple bottom and runner.
Finish schedule is 2 coats tung oil "finish" with 3 coats of brushed clear shellac.

That's just gorgeous, Jim. I love the way the grain wraps around it, and the curly maple drawer bottoms are great. The dovetails look really solid, and the finish is perfect!

Very nice Jim. You would think someone who does such nice work could build himself a decent workbench though.
