Default Festool/Sawstop

Kinda of interest. Festool just bought SawStop. It'll be interesting to see where that takes things.

This creates a moral dilemma for all Festool junkies who like to hate on Sawstop

If the protool buyout is any bellwether then Sawstop will soon come in green

Does that mean that now my Sawstop brake cartridges with be NAINA?

Seriously, I think that this is great, good cooperative advantages with the two companies.

I'm guessing that this is their way of being able to offer a job site saw with finger protection without having to "reinvent the wheel".

My understanding is that Sawstop has a patent on using electrical differential to determine when a body part is where it shouldn't be and that it would be very difficult if not virtually impossible to detect flesh any other way.

I am wondering if Festool is thinking about putting SawStop technology into chainsaws. I am not sure that it works that well with wet (live) wood.

I'm thinking the CMS set-up might be the first to get some sort of Electronic Monitoring in the Festool Line-up. Your Thoughts?
