I don't recall seeing one but I wasn't looking for someone ranting.

We do have ways of taking care of excess ranting though -

So I'm walking the dog with my wife, and telling her about this thread.

She assures me that I am, in fact, the very person I'm ranting about!

I didn't have the guts to ask my students.

So there you go: another example of hating in other people the things that you hate about yourself.

However, none of this will quell the ranting! Hi ho Silver, awaaaaaayyyy!

Maybe you and your wife are both right. Is this the kind of conclusion I should reach from your original rant?

Being a university professor, I am surprised you had enough skill to walk the dog and talk to your wife at the same time.

Take heart, Peter, at least I have learned it is university professor these days. You have taught me something.

Because you have to hold the conversation?

P.

On a separate note, recently I had a fella on a job, very erudite.

Unfortunately his erudition was rather long winded and repetitive.

Ending every statement with, okay?

I said, Ya know I'm workin heah. No avail.

Long story short, just asked if he would save all that to the digital recorder and I would listen to it at lunch. He said he didn't have one.
I said use my Black berry.

He shut up for the rest of the day.

Exactly. Though it sounds more like a monologue, the way you put it! I'm really not that bad!

I used to watch a Canadian comedy group called "Kids in the Hall". One of them did a character who was a young boy whose every statement sounded like a question. His intonation went up at the end of every sentence. I'm sure you've heard people like that:

So I took my OF1010? And used a 3/4 inch straight cutter bit? I routed a 1/4 inch dado? In my 4/4 cherry?

Just about the same as your fellow's "okay".

I'm impressed that he got the hint (finally).
