Default How's your Weather?

I see that the whole Northeast is being buried by snow. Any weather reporters out there?

Fred?

Anthony M?

Michael?

Per?

Bob?

Oh, same as it's been the past two weeks:

-20ºF each day's high, down to mid -30s in the pre-dawn (9am.... )hours.

At those temps, I do NOT pee the dogs or collect firewood in the buff.
.
.
.
.
.
I put on crocs.

And this will not be documented with pix

It was a nice one as far as blizzards go...
Hard to believe this is the same storm that dumped ten inches of rain
on John's house in LA and still had enough stuff left to drags itself
across the country and dump snow on us.

But, New York didn't even bother to declare a state of emergency.
NYC has been running over 1700 snow plows around the clock,
and these aren't those little things on the front of a pickup truck.
Never mind that lots of them are stuck because there's is just too much snow.

That said, we did get more than twice as much snow in a 20 hour period as I can recall
in the past 33 years. About two feet, (more at Bob and Per's) but how can you tell
when the wind was blowing over 50 mph at times?

It took hours to shovel out even though my car is parked on the street and my sidewalk is short.
The hard part is finding a place to throw the snow. Normally we'd push it into the street to melt
but mine is one of those streets that hasn't been plowed because both of the plows allocated
to our neighborhood are under the weather so to speak. They're choked on snow.

Which is kinda nice. The neighborhood kids are playing in the middle of our street with no fear.
Mostly just wallowing in the deep drifts since this stuff is powdery and not very conduce to building stuff.

I know how those side streets go, Michael. When I was in college at Buffalo in the late 70's, our street never got plowed. We had 2-5" of snow almost every day in the winter of '78; over 200" in all. The street ended up with a set of ruts down the middle, so you didn't even need to steer, unless you were going to park. Then you had to get the "charge and cut" just right to bounce out of the rut and into a parking space.

Wow John, that looks downright chilly!

I saw the picture and thought, "wait a sec, that looks nothing like SoCal." Then I noticed that white sand is snow!
Cape May, New Jersey eh?
