Default RIP Sam Maloof

What fortunate timing for those of you that were able to visit him at his home.

You're so right, Russell, I'm very glad I got the chance to meet him. That photo means all the more to me now.

It's a big loss, but he had such a long and productive life.

God be with you, Sam.

Yes he did live a wonderfully productive life and his life is truly an inspiration.

I met him about five years ago when I spent a day with him at a workshop out there.

But, I'm still so sad - this is one post I didn't want to open.

I just spoke to Joan at the Maloof foundation and she mentioned that within about 2 weeks there will be a Celebration / Memorial of Sam's life which will be open to the public.

By about tomorrow or the next day the information as to when and where will be up on their site.

What a huge loss! I'm so sorry to hear about this. He certainly lived a full life, and brought so much joy to so many people. Thank you all for giving me the opportunity to meet him!

Now, what about those people on his 5-year waiting list...?

Peter, Ann and I were just talking about that.

They had to know the risk when they signed up. If they want, I'm sure they'll still be able to get a chair, probably the same quality, but without the signature.

I'm very sad to learn that Sam has passed. I'm also very grateful to Chris and Annette for making it possible for me to meet Sam, and a bunch of other guys too.

That's very sad news.........

His ideas and inspirations will live on in many woodworkers, who caught a glimpse of his wonderful work, or picked up one of his books.
I never met Sam, or even touched any of his work, but his energy for woodworking alone, was enough to greatly inspire me.

Thank You Mr Sam Maloof
