Default Patience and the UPS man

I'm in a pretty enviable situation in that when I place an order with Tim from the Junk, if he's got it in stock (and he ususally does), I get my order the next day. Thank's for the incomparable customer service Timmy C.

However, my order is out for shipment via UPS always bright and early by 5:30 a.m. per the tracking report you can follow. Now, I live in a small city of about 40K people so there can't be that many packages being delivered so what time does my order usually arrive?

Five freaking forty-five p.m.

There got to be a moral to the story or a life lesson here right?

But, I will not give up my need for semi-instant gratification for my Festools. Can I bribe my UPS guy to be put at the front of his route?

With sincere apologies to Otis Redding & Steve Cropper, I present...

Sittin' on the Steps of My Porch (*UPS sung as the word "ups")

Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come
Watching the cars roll by
And then I watch 'em drive on by again, yeah

I'm sittin' on the steps of my porch
Watchin’ for *UPS to come my way
Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the steps of my porch
Wastin' time

I sent my order to Timmy C.
its headed for me today
'Cause I've had nothing to live for
Cept’ the box that’s comin’ my way

So I'm sittin' on the steps of my porch
Watchin’ for UPS to come my way
Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the steps of my porch
Wastin' time

Look like nothing's gonna change
Those delivery routes still remain the same
I can't do what ten Junkies tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same, yes

Sittin' here lookin’ for big brown
And this tool lust won't leave me alone
It's only 90 miles to so
For UPS to get that tool to my home

I'm sittin' on the steps of my porch
Watchin’ for UPS to come my way
Ooo-wee, I'm just sittin' on the steps of my porch
Wastin' time

I have an idea of how you feel! I was out of town, up at the lake when July 1 rolled around, so I had to wait several days to get back in town, and then wait for my local tool emporium to open before I got my hands on my Kapex!

By the way, I like your take on the song

I feel your pain, I think we all go through this! What's worse is when my wife orders stuff, or when something is arriving that I really do not care about, those days UPS is here by 10:00 am.

The days I'm waiting for my Festool's to arrive, UPS is here after 5:30 pm!

This is sad - and I'm not complaining - but one of the annoying consequences of living on the left coast is that the delivery times from TimmyC or Bob or whomever are considerably longer than overnight.

But seriously - who lives in Nebraska? Timmy - move to Arizona. Then I can still get the tax-free delivery, but save myself a few days of waiting.

And the winter's oh so much nicer than Nebraska!

Where I am in PA and where Bob is in NJ, UPS packages are delivered next day.

Nothing like tax-free orders with free shipping that arrive next day!
