No matter how much the jig was, it's probably a cheap lesson. You don't HAVE to resolve the issue. Lock him out and let him figure out why.

As I'm getting older, I've finally figured out that some arguments not only aren't worth winning, they're too much of a time sink to even be arguments.

Yeah, he's annoying now, but not as annoying as looking back on the situation with no emotion later on and realizing he soaked up a bunch of your breathing time that could have been better spent doing almost anything.
