Thank you, John. I hope the same thing. Last year we hosted a family that had been evacuated (all their neighbors burned in the 2005 fires) during the big fires here that surrounded the city. I was seriously considering moving everything to my office (cement building near the beach), just in case the fires started to close in on the city. Luckily we were spared.

I hope you have asbestos walls in your new shop. It'd be hell to evacuate that Felder in a hurry!

We enjoyed the house and the company, but it could have been brighter.

The house, not the company.

I've seen several Wright houses, the Hearst place, Stan Hywet, and a number of others. Most I don't mind being turned into exhibitions.

The Gamble house is different. It's a good, working, place to live. It ought to be in private hands, with upgraded systems, and lived in. Shame to waste it as a shrine.

Ned

Here's some pic's of why we couldn't make it. Pretty devastating and very sad stuff.

Those are amazing pictures, Chris. Thanks for posting the link.

I woke up last night about midnight, smelling smoke. There's a small fire burning north of us. But based on previous years, I know that they can grow really fast, and spread very quickly. So far, we're okay. I hope that's the case with the rest of you, too!
