Re: 1951 Ranch "Flipper"

What's your abatement plan for that siding? Or maybe you are planning to outsource that part of the fun?

Yeah, I can believe that a contractor did that. Guy that we bought our house from had his...

Re: talkFestool

OK, Laurie, I'll put a thread together. I've got some doors to build, so I'll take some photos.

It's really not at all glamorous, though. And at least for me, makes the Longshoreman's Local 509...

Re: talkFestool

Fred,

I certainly hope not. I'd not know what I'm missing out on if it weren't for posts like that. Sure, I jest in part, but there's a germ of sincerity there, too. I'm fairly certain I...

Re: Bowclamps for interior doors?

Craig,

Thanks. Haven't decided just how I'm going to make them yet, so I'm trying to do some planning (which is a might unusual for me) :Laughing2:

If I can get comfortable with the idea of...

Bowclamps for interior doors?

I need to build some interior doors (yeah, I know you can 'buy' them these days, but where's the fun in that? :D )

Wondering if the Bowclamp might work here instead of two dozen clamps.

Since...

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Okami,

Thanks again for all the info and photos. Just put an order in for the needle rasps, the 10" G9 cabinetmakers rasp, and a low angle adjustable mouth block plane from LN.

I'll post some...

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Thanks Okami,

Those photos are quite helpful. Thanks for snapping them!

And, hmm, I had thought about that Shinto for some time. Flat's fine, since most of what I envision using the bigger...

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Thanks. I know about the CCF, but had thought that while it may be great, it would just sit on the shelf a lot here. I'm just doing this for me. No plethora of homes/rooms to trim out.

And I...

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Since wine has now been mentioned... if I ran the zoo Tour, I'd just run it from winery to winery.

But I'd be afraid that I'd wind up doing a crit in Calistoga and never getting any farther.

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Yes, I was quite looking forward to the footage of your area. It's been awhile since I've been out there.

And just for historical fun, it would have been interesting to send them over Donner Pass...

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Thanks Fred,

Would that flat one be the 'Albi' model by chance?

Six or seven others, eh? Maybe we need to talk you into setting up a lending library system for the raspless and destitute among...

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Peter,

Thanks. I got your note with Jim's info.

Sounds like a cabinetmakers rasp is in my future, too.

Is the Tour of California coming down your way this week?

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Fred,

How could I not have known that you had those needle rasps? I swear I scoured your sig line 3 times.

Seriously, thank you very much. That's a brilliant suggestion to ask at Auriou...

Re: Anybody using needle rasps?

Peter,

Thanks for all the info. That was very helpful.

Having Jim make some handles is intriguing. Though I'll confess that it brings to mind Inigo Montoya's father's swordmaking enterprise...

Anybody using needle rasps?

This question at its heart goes out to a Mr. F. West.

Thinking I'd like to pick up some needle rasps for coping trim (crown, base, and other trim with some delicate beading) from either Lee Valley...

Re: Reconditioned Tools

Fred,

Yes, I really should get on the pre-order bus on that sander. Maybe one of my clients would like to hurry along and sign their contracts so I have some extra tool pocket change? :clapping1:...

Re: Reconditioned Tools

I've got an MFT/3 on order. First one after finally convincing myself that it would be better than making do with my roughly fashioned one (folding sawhorses, 3/4 ply and the magic of the LR32)....

Re: Best size hose for TS55 and miter saw

Brice / Seth,

Thanks for the info. I'll stick with the 27 and see if some tape or a cover plate helps.

Do you think the 36 would help with the pick up at the miter saw? Planning to make a scoop...
