Northfield can set you up with a nice cast iron table extension- I got a shipping quote; arm and a leg!!

Melamine or MDF with laminate on it will work great.

I re-tried my BCTW TB-6 bevel gauge with the end lock because I didn't think I had it tightened firmly on the first test and it held against the marking knife. TB-2 with the side knob wouldn't hold...

Okami,

If you have the factory pins, the fence will lock in the same place each time, the cool thing is you can leave the setting locked in, pull the pins to use your crosscut sled or miter gauge...

I'm with Derek, I never trust the measures or angles on machines, I have to prove the cut to myself before I run it- I might use the gauge to get ballparked, but then I'll test cut.
