Re: A Bit of Whimsy

Rob,

Classy group of fellows you run with, most of the people I know don't even have cuffs!

Nice boxes, I'm partial to the red gum version- I really like the contrast when you open it to see...

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

Randy is right, the other example has each set symmetrically offset- if you have your offset the way it works with your set up, they'll look like crap, there, I said it, it needed to be said and you...

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

Randy,

I'm not nuts, I've been tested! Still probably a good idea to just nod and smile while you're talking to me though.

Peter,

If you keep the casing, I would like to see what it looks...

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

Peter,

Probably a bunch of different ways to do it; I do think after you make the mess and put in the time, you'll be glad you did. Looking at mismatched doors every time you come and go will...

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

Peter,

It is not impossible to set all the doors planer; might be more work than you want, but could be worth it in the end.

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

John,

Agreeing with me is usually the first sign of insanity; publicly admitting it is the second.

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

Peter,

So close! I would not have a divider between the false and the furnace doors. Pretty much have the sets mirror each other.

Best,
Rutager

P.S. another idea for a room divider might be...

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

Partially, I would like to have another false set of doors over the vent area. So just remove the casing from the wall, leave all the doors.

Re: And now...a shoji wall!

Peter,

I think that it might look better if the casing over the top and the pieces between the two sections and at the corners were removed, leaving just the two distinct closet door sections. The...

Re: Shoji-style doors

Peter,

See my post #48; I solved the leash problem already, now you can move on.

How about a half wall to help separate the entry from the dinning room without losing the openness of the room?...

Re: Base ideas for this slab?

Okami,

Isn't it always the rainy season where you're at?

For a base, I'm seeing a leg at the inside and a leg at the outside of the curve and then a wider single leg at each end. Maybe linked...

Re: Shoji-style doors

Due to a lack of opposable thumbs, Wally isn't able to comment, but would like to point out that you can eliminate the pegs and with them his leash. He feels that the leash is holding him back from...

Re: Shoji-style doors

Nice work, just leave Wally in front of the other door and no one will care- that is one soft fluffy dog!

I vote for a plain panel door in Doug Fir for both the entry and the mechanical room.

Re: Pick your poison.

Scott,

In the same vein of the Secret Service testing the President's food to insure his safety, I'll use Fred's planes until the blades are dull enough he won't get cut. He's that important to...

Re: A massive thankyou!

Okami,

You're welcome, now you can see and feel what us crazy tool hoarding freaks live for.

The CT-12, in my opinion is the nicest all around BCTW bench plane. It has the articulated cap iron...

Re: My CS-2 is shipping!

Fred,

If you get one, I'll still have two. Everyone knows you need two: one for the work week and the other for Sundays and special occasions.
