Re: My nephew gets a new job ...

I don't know, Peter.

The pay sure fluctuates wildly, from astronomical when on the active roster, to pretty meager when not. They do move some of them back and forth, which isn't a good situation...

Re: Holtey is Retiring

Re: Holtey is Retiring

Fred was very close to his daughter, she meant everything to him (now in her late twenties). She lived in New York, but visited him often.

Fred told me that she had a mild interest in his tool...

Re: Holtey is Retiring

This has been the dilemma for Fred's close friends. Long before he became ill he made us promise that if he should pass away we would help his daughter with selling his stuff, so that she would...

Re: Holtey is Retiring

Yes, that was hard to watch. Fred would have been horrified as well.

Several of us offered to assist and/or advise, but were told they didn't need any help.

I hope the Holtey went to a good...

Re: Holtey is Retiring

When Fred sent me a photo of his new Holtey 982 back in 2011 it was love at first sight for me.

He jokingly told me he would leave it to me in his will.

Now that Fred's gone I would give...

Re: Tool Organization

Yes, a lot of good ideas there. Thanks, Neil.

Reminds me of our trip to Tyme's shop. Remember that, Mike?

Re: WIA 2016

I've always signed up for the seminars, I think they're well worth the price.

Plus, it's a great way to avoid hanging out with Rutager. :D

Re: Fred West

Time goes by so quickly, I still miss him and think about him often.

Does anyone know what happened to the bulk of his incredible collection?

Re: A GT500 can be fun ...

Yep, power isn't much good if you can't get it to the ground!

Okamisan, please tell the girl in the Supra that my car is available for rides, 24/7. :)

Re: A GT500 can be fun ...

Mike, the few times that I've lost control lifting off the throttle has been what saved me.

I think in the videos they either had slow reaction times or got past the point of no return. The car...

Re: A GT500 can be fun ...

It actually has a pretty good electronic traction control system. With it on it's just dangerous, with it off it's INSANE.

Part of the problem is the original tires (Goodyear Eagle F1), they're...

Re: A GT500 can be fun ...

The engine is almost entirely aluminum, weighs in at a modest 620 lbs.

They're still available as a replacement part, complete engine is around $30,000. Some guys (not me!) are buying them as...

Re: A GT500 can be fun ...

I actually lost control a couple of times (no damage) before I realized that there are very few circumstances under which it's safe to go full throttle. Even at 60 mph on the freeway, a romp on the...

It's not already there, but it would be handy. Fred use to bug me about it all the time, but I was unable to set it up.

Re: how to embed youtube?
