Re: Tool storage

I think a tool chest will work well to store the items you mention. I have two rollaway chests in my shop. One is a Craftsman that my dad gave me 45 years ago, and the other is a Craftsman...

Re: 2" ID hose to CT26 intake

That's the size fitting that is on any of Festool's D50 hoses. So, maybe your local dealer has a Boom Arm (with hose) on display? If you cannot see one locally, just PM me your address and I can send...

Re: 2" ID hose to CT26 intake

Lots of 2-1/2" to 1/1/4" reducers available, but something for 2"??? Do you have a Festool D50 Rotating Connector (https://www.festoolusa.com/accessory/452896---d-50-dag-as#Overview) to check if it...

Re: Lie-Nielsen Event in Chicago

Looks like they had one in Portland on the 20th and 21st. However, there doesn't seem to be one scheduled in Seattle until fall. Probably just as well... :cool_shades:

Re: Evils of diet soda?

We're supposed to keep track of our coffee consumption? Sheesh, doesn't one have to be awake for that first? No, I'm just not down for keeping score. Black coffee and water, and that's about as good...

Re: SYS 4 TL-Sort -and- SYS-COMBI 2

Oh, great! Now the rest of my Festool/Tanos boxes have also become obsolete. :headslap:

Yet, I have to agree that these do look to be an upgrade. The drawers might be more versatile than the prior...

Re: Sharpening - chisels, gouges, knives, etc.

Thanks, but I don't think I'll really need to sell any of this on eBay. While I wouldn't ever recommend this lapping plate, it will probably work to flatten the stones good enough (I'll be flattening...

Re: Sharpening - chisels, gouges, knives, etc.

Well, my Spyderco stone did not have a hollow, but rather a crown. I guess I must be using it upside-down. :headslap: :Laughing2: I haven't wanted to remove all the material required to get this...

Re: Sharpening - chisels, gouges, knives, etc.

I've had a few sharpening sessions with my new sharpening equipment now and am getting nice results. However, I do have mixed feelings with some of the products.

I do like the Shapton stones very...

You did good, Peter. :thumbsup2: I only wish that I could have been there too.

As I see it, Fred's collection of tools is long gone and contacting the family about them is just not appropriate....

Re: Sharpening - chisels, gouges, knives, etc.

I ended up taking your collective advice, so to speak, as I've ordered the Shapton Pro Stones in 220 and 1000 grits along with the 8" x 3" Ultra-Fine Spyderco. For flattening these stones, I've...

Re: Sharpening - chisels, gouges, knives, etc.

I gave the DiaSharp setup one more try to see if it was me or the plates. But there is no question about it, these plates leave bad scratches and are a problem. They're going back. It seems that in...

Re: Kapex main fences

It does sound like the fence is not straight. If so, you will want to call Festool and most likely send it in to be repaired.

I recently decided to treat myself to a new Kapex. Purchased the UG...

Thanks guys for the input. Very bummed with the performance of this DiaSharp system and now I'm trying to figure what to do about this. Guess I should have asked here before taking the leap. I'm...

Re: Sharpening - chisels, gouges, knives, etc.

Thanks Derek,

Yes, the Fine is 1,200 grit, but I also have the Extra-Extra-Fine which is rated at 8,000 grit.

I really expected to like this system much better than my current system of...
