Re: I would like to have your suggestions ...

@PaulG
@Leakyroof

I knew it would be a tough challenge to come up with an app that would benefit woodworker's in general because, as unique human beings, we all do things differently. That said,...

I would like to have your suggestions ...

Over the years I have received a ton of help from my fellow woodworkers. So to give back to the woodworking community, I would like to build an iPhone app that would help woodworkers solve their...

Re: May I have permission to ask this question of members?

Speaking only for myself, I have used both Imperial/Western and Metric rules and for some reason, I've found myself of late favoring the Metric rules.

In truth, the thickness of your mark will...

May I have permission to ask this question of members?

Greetings,

It's been a while since I have posted any comments within this forum and that is because I "wear" several hats. One of those hats is, of course, that I am a woodworker and Festool nut....

Re: Tabletop's second chance

This photo reminds me of moving waves. May not be the best table to sip wine on. If it were mine I'm not sure I would let anyone even touch it much less sit around it and drink wine.

It's simply...

Re: Tabletop's second chance

I think that is very true. I made a table top a few years back that has some of that red stuff that runs through my veins. I cut myself (stupidly) on my plane iron and had a mess that did not clean...

Re: Dumb, dumb, dumb, ...

@RWeber

Thanks for info.

My spray gun was purchased solely for spraying shellac. At the time of purchase I was trying to fill walnut grain to speed up a french polishing project I was working...

Re: Salt Cedar Sliding Doors

Great question! I have no idea how the doors would fare in direct sunlight - probably not very well. Shellac is not a sunblocking finish, to my knowledge anyway.

My greatest fear with these...

Re: Dumb, dumb, dumb, ...

Thought I would add a photo of the filter.

As I noted above I removed the filter from the spray gun and had no problems. That said, I am wondering what the shape of the filter has to do with how...

Re: Salt Cedar Sliding Doors

I finished spraying the shellac on the door yesterday. The face - which you see in the attached photo, will receive one more coat of shellac after the salt cedar sticks have been laid into each...

Re: Dumb, dumb, dumb, ...

I just found these filters at O'Reilly's Auto - five for $17.

I think I'll just leave out this little filter and use a paint filter instead. It would seem that this would be cheaper and just as...

Dumb, dumb, dumb, ...

I'm going to expose my stupidity, but hope this will help someone when they have a similar problem.

It's about my trusty gravity-feed spray gun. It just began pulsating - spray, no spray, spray...

Re: Miss Kate's Planter

Thanks for your kind words.

I used Gorilla glue because of all the rain and snow that Chicago gets.

I used aluminum angle stock 1-1/2 inch or so per side. I bored holes on the vertical...

Re: Pair of night stands

I believe that having to add glue to both sides of a tenon is a very small price to pay vs the time and stock saved by using them. I was going to add that one end of the tenon could be glued first...

Re: Would you cut your expensive veneer with a Track Saw??

I'd have NEVER thought to cut veneer with a track saw, much less running the saw backwards.

Re: Would you cut your expensive veneer with a Track Saw??

So I'm gonna guess that the veneer cannot be damp - as in wetting slightly to get it flat, before 'sawing' it?

Do you use a special blade as well?

Thanks!

Great work, Neil!

I was going to ask you to detail your spraying process, but then read that you passes that chore off to a friend. I have very poor spray skills. I can manage with my meager...

Re: Would you cut your expensive veneer with a Track Saw??

You're braver than me that's for sure. I will try it on some discounted redwood burl that I have. Jesse said - I believe, that the guy used a saw made for cutting aluminum, but I could be wrong on...
