Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

I know that we're all waiting on tenterhooks for our CT-17. Just to whet your appetites, I thought I'd post a picture taken by my all-time favorite advertising photographer, Joe Felzman...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

Ron, I might be willing to sell you mine at a price to be determined once I see your bank statements. :thumbsup2:

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

If I understand it correctly, they sandwich the SS 72 tpi screw in two half-nuts of brass, and squeeze the brass onto the threads. They then turn the screw back and forth to get a perfect fit of the...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

I've definitely been green on occasion...

By the way, John linked to this thread in his blog. It might be nice to have something to say about the CT-17 for those poor deluded souls who think there...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

Thanks for the spelling correction and education, John. I was wondering why "perjorative" was flagged as spelled incorrectly. But I didn't care enough to fix it...

So if they're "little people"...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

That makes intuitive sense - kind of like reduction gears on arbors and axles.

I'm not sure if this is double-threaded. I think that the thread is just on the outside of the adjustment screw - no...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

By the way, it wasn't midgets at all: it was a ventriloquist's dummy. Don't know where I got midget. I must have been feeling small in my chair as I typed.

(P.S. Recognizing (now) that "midget" is...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

I think that Holtey might use it on his adjusters.

The threads on this screw are 72 threads per inch! Wow!

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

And that's precisely it, Peter: buy or not because you want the tool or not. But don't say the tool is bad (or other more flowery adjectives which I've seen on some forums) just because you wouldn't...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

The comments that I love - that John apparently gets all the time - are "I could make that myself" (usually for $5 or something). John actually went so far as to give measured drawings to someone who...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

P.S. The argument that John released the CT-17 just to draw people to the BCTW web site is so spurious, it's laughable. John's business model is "no inventory". If you want to buy something, for the...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

You have glass? Luxury!

Yep - I drive a 10 year old Mazda, and my jeans (3 pairs) all have holes in the knees. I don't have a cell phone. That saves about the same amount of money as a CT-17....

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

Seems to me that dying broke means you timed things just about perfectly. Presumably you set your kids up during your lifetime, of course.

Yes - I loved those crow sculptures too (on John's...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

I just read John's blog: apparently he'd pretty bummed at the thrashing he's receiving in the bowels of other forums. He supplied some links to those threads, and they're quite fascinating. Some...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

Thanks guys. I'm glad my impending poverty brings you such joy. :thumbsup2:

I'm pretty excited. Though I guess I'll have to contain myself: BCTW says it won't ship until August, so I won't expect...

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

Well, after a great deal of discussion and soul-searching, I decided that Gillian can pay for her own orthodonture when she grows up, and I put in my order today for my CT-17. Yay! :clapping1:

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

By the way, John also gives the specs for the CT-17. In reading them I discovered that I was wrong: there is no black chrooome on the plane. The palm rest is polished, not chromed.

Re: The Bridge City CT-17 tool announcement!

If you check out John Economaki's blog (Bridge City Tools Behind the Scenes (http://www.bridgecitytools.com/blog/)) you can see the stereolithography model that John had made up of the CT-17. It's...

Maybe you should make his with a wooden blade. And give him a free bass plug to go with it.
