Why it's not as easy as it looks

A quick vid to demonstrate why it's not as easy as it looks... wood does funny things when it bends. Any flat spot will bow backwards when clamped flat.

Indeed. Welcome Rob! :wavey: All info sounds right. F-clamps will give you about an 1 1/8" of thread to work with, and you'll want to avail yourself of all of it by backing the screws out before...
