Default Better Bokeh through software

Better Bokeh through chemistry software.

Short focal length lens in the tiny digital camera makes everything in focus?
Bright day? Can't open up wide enough?

While this piece of software may seem to work miracles, make you a pro etc, This one line under one of the examples on the site says it all: The pitcher was carefully selected in Photoshop before using Bokeh’s planar focus region.Which means that it comes down to your handywork to get the best results. Now if you have to make the selection in photoshop or "cut out" the pitcher, all you have to do in photoshop to achieve "planar focus" LOL is to make a new layer with the player in it. Duplicate the background, use the lens blur filter and apply a layer mask with a gradient to get the same effect. While these bought third party filters may in some instances produce the desired effect they can always be done in photoshop which for me is mostly quicker and more accurate. There have been many cut out or masking applications over the years that promissed amazing results but all failed with less than optimal images.

Something interesting i came across a while ago was this:

Light Field Photography with a Hand-Held Plenoptic Camera

This camera allows you to change depth of field after a shot has been taken
