2-strokes are pretty much banned on the roads in the U.S. anymore because they can't meet EPA emission standards. Chainsaws & yard equipment are about the only 2-strokes left on the market.

For offroad use there are still 2stroke dirtbikes being sold in the US.
Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM, Husqvarna,TM still make and sell them.
Jet ski's, snow mobiles, outboards are also still being made with 2stroke engines.
2stroke dirtbikes became unpopular in the US because the AMA rules are favoured towards four strokes.
The European bike makers are putting R&D into 2stroke engines every year, and 2 strokes are starting to become more popular again.
