Default Any one built this ?

My FIL says he can get me the pillow bearings and shafts for free, when I get some free time I might take him up on his offer. It can do double duty as a slot mortiser and horizontal router table. If anyone has built this please let me know how it worked.

BTW the plans are from Bill Hylton's book Router Magic.

Oak,

Thanks for the link, looks like I need to look around some more before I settle on an idea.

Colin,

Jerry Work shows how to mount an MFK700 horizontally on an MFT. It might be feasible with other routers. It's at: The Dovetail Joint --> Tutorials --> MFK700 tutorial (1/2 way down page) --> Page 7.

Regards,

Dan.

Dan,
That looks like an ideal solution for a horizontal router table if you own a MFT and you could probably modify this idea to use another router, unfortunately I do not own a MFT.

If anyone comes across any slot mortising/horizontal router table designs I would be eager to look at them as this is a project I would like to pursue this summer when I have the time.

Ohhhhhh.... I need to build one of these. Only in my case it's a great solution for doing inlays in drum shells. I can put just a little pressure on top of the shell to keep it flat on the table as I rotate it but gravity will do most of the work and all I have to do is get the depth right on the router.
