Default New Plastic Dust Deputy

I got this (Oneida Air Systems - Dust Deputy) 99.00 Dust deputy today (Thanks to Stoolman's suggestion) and have it hooked up... All I can say is I'm getting two more for the other vacs! This one is hooked to my craftsman vac on the kapex. (The dust deputy comes with the intermediate hose) And when I get two more I will set them up on the ct33's with boom arms. It also comes with two plastic buckets, one to mount so you can set the dust deputy with the second bucket into it if you want. (Using one bucket for a holster if you will) It will fit inside a systainer or you could make a board with catches on the bottom to fit the ct33 systainer mount and mount holster bucket on the board. It can be grounded to the metal ring that bolts on the inside of the bucket under the cyclone. And you can see the dust level inside the bucket as it fills. I have a box of bags for the ct33's that will last a long time with this set up... and I won't have to worry about losing suction as the bag fills or plugging the hepa filter as fast. It is made of heavy nylon like plastic that should hold up as well as the steel version but time will tell on that one. Definitely a two thumbs up set up!

Seth,

I will post some pics when I get the set up a little further along. As is, I just sat it on the floor beside the shop vac. The Kapex is mounted on a royobi stand at the moment. I'm almost finished with the left extension table for the kapex, and will make the table to set it and the kapex on next. When I'm done, I should have 14 feet of unincumbered space on each side of the kapex blade, without much interference from competing tools and with a small footprint on floor space. I've been working on it slowly and trying to complete a bunch of unfinished projects to make some room to work.

Wayne, How is the Dust Deputy working out for you? I'm thinking that I should get one for my CT33 vac -- What do you think?

Ron,

I just got my second one a couple days ago and mounted on top of a CT33 and I'm going to order a third one for another ct33. I'm going to set up boom arms for both of them as well. I just haven't decided how Im going to do the boom arms...ct mounted or up the wall. I'll add soem pics over the weekend. The dust deputy's work great so far!

Hey Wayne,
Sounds good, I'm going to order one.

What did you have to buy for the extra hose and adapters? Will the Festool hose(s) plug right into the DP? Do I need an adapter?
I intend to do as you are doing & set the unit right on top of the CT33. I think that I will leave the hose garage on & maybe cut a piece of ply with the correct diameter hole for the DP bucket -- it looks like I'll have to trim some radius on the lips of the garage so the bucket will slide down in place.

What I plan right now is to get the Festool boom setup & clamp both the D36 and the 27mm hoses to it so I can easily switch from sawing to routing, etc.

Thanks,
Ron

Ron,

All the fittings fit with he festool hoses. The hose supplied by oneida that goes between the vac and the dust deputy is too short to reach if you mount it on top of the vac. However it is standard 2 1/2 inch dust collection hose like you get at rockler or woodcraft. It has an adapter on each end that converts 2 1/2 to 2 1/4. The 2 1/4 is standard for the festool vac and fits the cyclone as well. All you need is a longer piece of hose... then take the adapters off the hose that comes with the dust deputy and screw them into the longer hose. I'm going to get the 2 1/2 inch clear wire reinforced hose and strip back the wire to connect to a continuous ground. Right now I'm using another piece of craftsman hose until i get some of the wire reinforced clear hose.

Here is my portable Dust deputy set up. I comes completely off the ct for transport. Has a separate hook up for the hoses so no stress is put on top of the dust deputy. It can be connected to the festool boom arm. It can also be connected to a wall mounted boom arm. And remains easily portable.

Here is a picture of the units separated.

Here is a picture of the notched board to fit the ct.

Unit latched into the ct.

Hoses connected

Complete unit.
