Default Barkeepers Friend

One of us left a wet tin can on the butch block table overnight so we wouldn't "forget to take it out to the recycling in the morning"

Yep, it rusted and left a nice proud ring on the block. I tried a scraper and some sandpaper but it didn't touch it -- it is end grain after all

so we got some Barkeeper's Friend at the local supermarket

a little water and made a paste, 3 min later, stain gone!

It is oxalic acid in it, worked like a charm. Something to keep in mind if you've got some stained wood that you'd like to rescue for a project

Jay

Jay,

Nice tip. I have some stains on the back deck that are resisting everything.

Regards,

Dan.

Oh yes - BK is great stuff for all kinds of things like that. Except... bad for black fiberglass, though. DAMHIKT
