They are the same as the ones used for paintball. Any paintball supplier should have them. Lowes has them for exchange (empty for full) in the US because they sell the Kobalt regulator. Walmart, Dick's also have them and will refill them. I have the 9 oz 20 oz is also popular.

Hi,

OK, I tested the number of shots because I wanted to have some idea.

Starting with a full 9 oz. cylinder , which I checked to make sure it actually had the 9 oz in it.

Using a PC 2" 18ga brad gun.

Firing 1 1/4" brads

At 90psi

At 70 degrees F.

I was able to get 180 good shots before the pressure started falling off and would not return to 90psi. All the shots were fired in about ten minutes.

The air temp and the pressure you want to use will be the biggest variable factors but at least this is a reasonable reference.

I have the Kobalt regulator.
You can pick up CO2 regulator washers at welding supply houses, with the washers installed in the in the inlet you can attach the regulator to a regular 20# tank. I have gotten over 12000 shots of 16 and 18 ga from a single tank. I had the tank already but you can swap them for around $18.00. A couple of things with this set up: 1 you need to stableize it because it can tip over. 2 you need to take off the plastic cover in order to screw it on. 3 I have had to dissemble it a couple of times to "adjust" the disc between the handle and spring when i couldn't get enough pressure. The disc deforms under the intense spring pressure if you leave the regulator tightened down when not in use--I would leave it set and just turn off the tank.

Hi,

McFeely's has started selling this set up Powertank CO2 System, Air Compressors & Air Guns, Power Tools, Tools - McFeely's

Pricey but maybe not compared to a generator + compressor situation. This thing would have enough to run a framing nailer.

At my local Lowes the Kobalt CO2 kit is on clearance, priced at $70. This is the kit (the only one this SI, NY store stocks) that does not include the CO2 cylinder, not even an empty one. In addition to closing the item out this Lowes no longer stocks the CO2 cylinders (full or otherwise).

I wonder if they are having to meet some kind of CO2 emissions guidlines to reduce global warming. Perhaps CO2's days as a working gas are over.

Hi,

I think it is odd (and frustrating for those in NYC) that Lowes stocks different versions of this in different stores

The Lowes near me has a new stack of them. A while ago it looked as if they were getting rid of them and the two that were tucked away on a shelf were covered with dust. But I noticed a new pile in new packaging. I didn't bother to check them out , maybe this new packing indicates the tankless version is here as well now.

The version that inconveniently does not include the necessary tank. You know, like the car dealer who sells cars without wheels. And the parts department doesn't stock wheels.
