Hitachi Beast #2

Got a text from a friend that buys and sells. He goes to a lot of auctions to pick up stock.
Anyway, he texted there is a huge circular saw, and would I be interested.. As it goes, Ive been wanting a large circular saw for trimming edges of thick hardwood slabs. My TS75 has neither the depth of cut or power for those types of jobs. He won the saw for the equivalent of $6. Worth a gamble.
The arbour, shaft and bearings feel good. The motor works. I just need to put a blade in. It takes a 382mm blade:D
It's built like a tank and weighs a ton! Zero plastic on this beast!
Here it is next to the little baby TS75.

It was made in 1978 and still works fine. Made in the days when tools didn't need warranties..

Cripes Okami, that is a proper blokes saw! Makes that wee Festool look positively effeminate.

Now THAT'S a SAW!

Utterly terrifying. But it would sure do the trick on those slabs. I'm looking forward to seeing how that works out. And you can't beat the price!

Yep, it's a real blokes saw for sure!
I've been woodworking all my life and ain't affraid of much in my work, but I'll admit this saw is a bit scary.. must have an awesome kickback:eek: but I can't wait to try it out on some thick slabs with a nice Tenryu in it:thumbsup2:

I am not sure I would be strong enough to use that monster.

Cool. Does it take a 14" blade? I've been using a Tenyru blade in my chopsaw that I like very much.

It's not hard to imagine the injury lawsuits that may have ended this saws production. But it looks like fun! Stay safe.

It can take a 14" blade. The max it takes is 15.39". Pretty large blade:eek:
