"
He is such a good guy that after all of that he asked me if he could help me put together my cyclone. My back and knee were killing me and I tried to talk him out of it but he said that he felt guilty for all of the money I had to pay for his services. So, we started and got to the part where it was time to attach the lower part of the cyclone to the stand I had built. Unfortunately I had built the stand perfectly to the instructions but it was far too high and if we had managed to get the very heavy top piece on it would have blasted through the ceiling. Needless to say, I need to drastically lower the stand." Is that going to work? That cyclone looks pretty tall. Will there be room for a debris can underneath or will you have to move it out from under the cyclone? |

I know that Fred has a bottle of the Supergleit. He's probably going to use it on his stairs to get the rest of the wood down from the garage.
Michael - I have the same worry. That chip collection tub will fill pretty fast, so you want it to be easy to disconnect and empty. I'm still wondering whether it's upside down...

Here's a couple of tips I've found useful when using felder/hammer jointers...
The first one I picked up from ChrisM: Because the felder/hammer fences are fixed at just one end, You might not be used to the fence wanting to move. It doesn't seem to affect the results, but I like it solid. The big magnet stops any movement and makes the fence rock solid Second tip was from Mirko: You can use the blade guard to keep boards up against the fence. This is really, really useful when You are jointing large, heavy boards. Put the board on the jointer, up against the fence and push the blade guard into the board and tighten. Remove the board.. You can then loosen the guard a little and push it in a bit more. The blade guard has some give, and makes perfect for holding the board tight to the fence. |

Thank you so much. I assume then that you do not want a ticket to come here and paint the room for me? Gosh, and I was going to have one of your feet painted permanently on the floor so that everyone would know it was a genuine Hasslefactor painting. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fred

Trust me when I say, I WOULD know what was missing. ![]() In addition is Randy were to come here I would put my two guard dogs on him so that he could not move without them watching his every move.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Of course, I might have to seed Randy's pockets with treats to keep their attention but whatever works I am good with. ![]() Fred

Thank you very much. The second part I knew about as the tech verified something I had thought before I received the machine. He also said that when face jointing you can raise the fence to just below the height of the board and it will help keep the board down on the tables. The first part about the magnets I had not heard of so now I am going to try it with and without. The stand has now been lowered to its lowest position which will make everything much easier. However, I still need to get someone to help me put the upper portion of the cyclone as well as the motor and impeller on top of the lower portion of the cyclone and the stand. Yesterday, after lowering the stand I used the the 7 inch flange and cut out a hole in the plastic top of my fiber drum. I then drilled out the six 3/8 inch holes for the bolts and after putting a layer of silicone caulk, I bolted down the flange to the plastic top. I have a 12 inch high, 7 inch wide piece of plastic hose that connects the flange to the bottom of the cyclone. All in all, things are moving even if it is really slowly. Fred Fred
