Lie-Nielsen Toolworks LIE-NIELSEN TOOLWORKS began in 1981 as an effort to make top-quality hand tools available again from a U.S. maker and to revive discontinued, but useful, designs so the average woodworker could obtain them. Today we make over 50 types of planes, saws, spokeshaves, chisels, floats and more. We have improved and refined designs, and use better materials like Ductile Iron and Manganese Bronze for castings and cryogenically treated A-2 Tool Steel for the blades. Our plane blades are much thicker than those of any other production planes. The quality of machining and finishing results in a tool that looks as great as it works, and will be a pleasure to use for years to come.

Not to worry, Leaky, it's all in good fun.

It may also help you to know that we have a renegade admin here, who apparently has gone off his meds.

The video (Thanks Jim) certainly makes installing hinges look fun -- Brice will be doing them in just a few seconds after he does so many.

I picked one up on eBay, so maybe now I can finish that trunk I started for my SIL about 20 years ago when she was still in high school.

Anybody else have a partially completed project that has languished in the garage for that long?

Think I've got you beat. In the early seventies, I got excited about woodworking and bought a set of plans for a school clock. I didn't have any money, experience, or tools, but I started down the path. I used an old beat up rip saw to cut out parts but got stymied by not being able to thickness the parts properly. I think I eventually burned the little pieces of oak, but not too long back I found the plans. Maybe some day.....................

While I don't spend all my time in the garage, my life - begun in the late '50s' - is a partially completed project...

I saw the guy at an L-N event demo this, among many many other tools. I had him running back and forth from the tool tray for a few hours... It looks super cool and was a joy to use. One of those only does one thing really well ponys, but boy I would buy one if I had 4 doors to do let alone 70. Then again, I don't need that much convincing to buy hand tools.

I also met Fred at this event and he's a stand-up guy, I'm sure this post editing thing is all to blame on some fritzy server.

Trevor,

Thank you for the compliment and right back at you. I very much enjoyed meeting you as well as the lengthy talk we had. You should take yourself over to the "New Member's" section and write about yourself as you have a great story and your back ground is going to lead to many questions.

The butt mortise chisel is wonderful works exceedingly well. You will love it once you bite the bullet and pay for it.

Also, I will look back but can someone fill me in on the post editing situation or is it someone just editing their own posts which everyone can do.

Fred

AH ha, I now see the problem and it is I. I did not realize that it was this post where at the very least a few of us were changing either our own or other's posts. It was all done strictly in fun but it did bother some so it came to a screeching halt and since I started it and ended it it is incumbent upon me to apologize to any and and of you that may have been upset or confused in any manner.

So the mystery is no longer a mystery.

Fred
