Fred, you're getting better at backgrounds.

If it's a cell phone camera it might not focus any closer anyway. I have to give Fred credit for aiming straight, getting good focus, and holding steady. Tighter would be nice though. After cropping out the background there's only 24k of data left.

Laurie,

How correct you are as it is still blazingly sharp. Poloretep's wife suggested that I use it for slicing CHEESE. My poor heart lept to my throat with just the thought of such sacrilege even being spoken about this knife. I just do not know how to recover from this horrible, horrible thought. Please help me in this most terrible of situations before I do something desperate like using a chisel for cutting my STEAK!!!! . As Ned had asked for a little bit closer pictures I have attached three. My lens are not very good for getting super close up shots.

.

Fred,

a little suggestion.

On the next round of photos, perhaps you might want to place the knife (The Beak? - we need a name for it) on a neutral grey "solid" background.
Something without a sheen or other distractions.

Roger,

Thank you as I am an idjit when it comes to photography so any and all suggestions are welcome. This is about as close as I could find at the moment to a neutral grey. Please let me know if this is any better.

Fred

Thanks again Fred. As far as photo suggestions go, if you just turn the camera so that the length of the knife is parallel to the long side of the the camera's rectangle and get the whole knife in one shot, and it's against the neutral background, I think that would be pretty good.

Michael,

Thank you very much. Are these two photo's any better?

Fred

But, but... the background with the kids was SO MUCH FUNNIER.

Now, Fred, this may cause you some pain (I'm sorry ), but I must ask. Would it actually hurt the knife to slice a bit of cheese with it? Or is this more of a religious issue? I tend to be in the "do what works as long as it doesn't make anything else more complicated" camp, but I admit that attitude has got me in trouble in the past - usually in ways I don't understand. But then I'm a stubborn so and so. I'll try to improve. I hope this didn't hurt your eyes...
