Default antique power coping saw

A friend got this from his grandfather. It has a tiny motor and is way under powered, but would be great if it had a real motor. He rarely uses it, but keeps it from sentimental reasons. I had never seen one before and thought you tool nuts would like it.

Is it a motor or a solenoid?

If I were a bench dog that cookie would be "all ate up".

That's a cool idea, Tom, but it's hard to imagine that it would have any power for cutting anything but balsa. Perhaps if you used a blade with smaller teeth you could use it on pine or something? But maybe it would clog up then...

I used to have one of those back in my younger days.

I guess that makes me an antique too.
