Default Popular Woodworking's Hand Tool Show

Hey guys and gal,

I have cut and pasted a bit from two PMs I just sent so if you were a recipient please accept my apology. Just too much to once again type out.

So, first I am once again going to apologize for my disappearing act with the following explanation and then after that see if I can coerce, cajole, or just beg all of you to come out here to Historical Valley Forge to attend the above named show. But first.

As some of you may know I went up to Vermont a couple of weeks ago andI had a wonderful trip with my Step-Mom and Dad except that the trip wracked my back and neck very badly. In addition the night I got back my Step-Mom notified our whole family that another family in Vermont that we are very close suffered a terrible tragedy. These people have four kids, older now, and five foster kids. They took the foster kids to Montreal for the weekend and on the way back and within ten miles of their house Rod suddenly swerved and hit a pickup head on. He and one of the girls were killed and his wife, Darryl is still in ICU as are the other four kids. Just reading the email my Step-Mom sent us took my breath away. You literally could not find better people and their kids are all amazing as well.

Darryl and the other kids are going to live but I do not know how badly off she is going to be nor the kids. On top of that I took a tumble about a week ago in my garage, just slipped because of the rain and fell into the cast iron end of my lathe. Wrenched my back and neck very badly and apparently almost dislocated my collar bone on the right side. Thank goodness for my chiro. He is amazing.

The good news is that while recuperating I completely reorganized the main part of my shop and took all of my really good wood out from under the stairs and put it all on brackets on the wall. I was speaking to Peter about this and he seemed to think that putting all of this wood up above my head while on a ladder might not be the appropriate way to recuperate. Pshaw, what does he know?

So, now back to the show. As of right no, my man John Raftery is coming for sure. Assuming it can be worked out with other bad backs, etc then Ronwen and Michael Kellough will also be coming and if we can get John Economaki to come out then Plato will also be forced to attend. Everyone is welcome to stay at my house. As long as you are not allergic to dogs, I have plenty of room. If you prefer to stay in a hotel or motel there are many of those around as well. Here is the link for the show and the dates for it are October 2 - 4. Woodworking in America Conference - Home

I would love to see an army of talkFestoolers.

Fred

Fred, Sorry to hear about your mom's friends and your back. I'm glad to see the smiley finger wasn't injured in your trip, what meds are you on??
Tom
I have about 30 red salmon in my freezer and 120 razor clams. Come see me and my wife will make you some of the best clam chowder ever.

Still Tom

Joking aside, I am sorry to hear of this tragedy. My prayers are with the survivors.

Tom - I'm there! My dad caught some salmon in Alaska this summer and sent them to me. Wow! Totally different than the stuff you can get in the store. Razor clam chowder!?! I've never tried it, but it sounds amazing! Cream base, or tomato?

Eiji,

Thank you very much and I am assuming that you too knew I was joking in my post about who are you?

Tom,

I am there. I have not been back to Alaska since 1974 and I miss the salmon, the grayling, the clams and the king crab. We also used to get a moose every year and that kept us fed for a long time. I envy you being up there. My 13 years there are still the best time of my life.

Fred
