Default Eiji bought a hand plane!!

And it's made of wood in the Asian style.

From the FOG....

"I have found a super quick and easy solution to the overly tight fit on most of the dominoes I have used. I used to sand them...too much time and inaccurate. I then made my own....not a bad solution.

I recently purchased a HNT Gordan Gidgee smoothing plane to help with some curly maple pieces I am working on. The blade pitch is 60 deg and the mouth is so tight. Its an amazing little plane and I was getting 9 foot long thinner than tissue paper curlies with it last night.

perfect for pulling the domino over the blade with the plane upside down in my hand. Literaly, in 2 seconds I had overly tight fitting dominos fitting perfectly.

.

You know,

I saw that,

and thought at the time,

I must have slipped though a portal,

to a parallel universe in which there's,

an Eiji using hand tools,,,,,,,,,,,

yes - and making a living at the same time.

Ii sorta makes you wonder what this "parallel Eiji" would do next over there?

careful pulling those dominos over the bed of the plane

one slip and ouch!

better to make a small quick bench hook, and butt the domino up against a stop, and take a shaving from above

The thought of losing a transfer paper thickness of skin is so frightful!

My HNT Gordon Gidgee plane is sweet!

I got the curly maple at www.crlumber.com the material is awesome, the prices are unbelievable and the service is second to none.

call Chad at 937-572-WOOD. Tell him you know Eiji and he will give you a 5% discount.

I got the curly maple for my coffee table from him too.

Nice pics!

That stuff sure is curly.

I was browsing the HNT Gordon site - his planes are awesome! And as usual, your stands look like they will be incredible when you're finished.

Outstanding Eiji

HNT Gordon makes great wooden planes. Being an Ozzie plane maker, the planes are made to shave the very hard and difficult woods native to Australia.
Great choice of plane for the Maple Eiji
Cool

Cheers!
