Smile I'm not planeless anymore...

Well, thanks to some great advice I got here and in discussions with some of you, and particularly thanks to TahoeTwoBears who pointed me to the Craftsman Studio - Fine Tools , I am now the proud owner of a Lie-Neilsen No. 4 Bronze bench plane. Whee! It's a beauty. It has a lovely heft to it, and the cherry knob and tote fit my hand like it was made for me. I've been practicing making long curlies of cherry. Took a few minutes to tune up, but it works like a charm. I'm in love!

I think the next planes on the list are a Lee-Valley low-angle block plane and a Lee-Valley medium shoulder plane.

I'm sitting in the family room as I type this on my laptop, and the plane is sitting in front of me on the cherry coffee table I made. Don't you love new tools? This is one that Gillian's children will be able to enjoy!

Thanks again for all your thoughts and advice. Nothing like some encouragement to spend your money!

Sorry John - here's a picture. I was too lazy to make a new album for it, but I've since relented.

Don't you just want to touch it? Sharon says I can't bring it to bed with me...

P.S. Who's "Steve"?

Potosan, that's a beauty
The LN planes do look the part, especially the bronze one's and the good thing about the bronze is, it won't rust.
Very nice!
Cheers!

Well, I'm glad someone has their priorities straight around here!

Nice score, I have a couple of LN planes and love using them.

Just another slippery slope..................

Oh, very nice, Peter.

It might be best to keep it completely away from the bedroom, it's very hard to focus on more than one beauty at a time.

Didn't you know? Steve is Gillian's secret fiance. They are getting married next year in Vegas. But the real truth is that he is marrying her just for your tools.

Potosan,
When all is said and done you still need the Stanly 80 to fix your mistakes.
Trust me , it may not be pretty enough to take to bed but it's the best wood shaver to have on the bench.
