Default Design / Inspiration Forum?

Hi everyone

I wonder if anyone else thinks that it might be helpful to have a forum dedicated to design / inspiration where we could post stuff like

in and about town .... Streams of Modernism (Denver)

and like this

KM COOK WOODWORKING

Or this

Pritam & Eames: The First Decade

We could find stuff easier if the posts were categorized in one area, rather than scattered throughout the forum,

I would think that members would still post their own projects in the existing "projects" forums.

Jay

I love this idea. John Economaki tried this on his blog, but it hasn't got much action. I'd love to learn more about design, and some of the things that have been posted recently are really inspiring. It would be fun to try to get some people who really think about this stuff to help educate us on what works, what doesn't, and why.

I don't know, I really worry about this taking us off topic, which I really hate.

I don't know...sounds like it could require some discipline and thought....and caffeine.

Of course, we could always start using the tagging function...

Sounds like you've been poking around under the hood.

What did you find?

On my VERY FIRST post, I noticed that it was possible to add metadata tags.* So, being the good (and somewhat obsessive) citizen that I am, I added them. Then I noticed that no one else uses them, so I stopped. But I always thought it would be nice if people DID use them, because it really improves searchability - especially once a forum grows to have loads of content.

(And now Ned and Dan will hopefully chime in here any second with some thoughtful input on the pros and cons of metadata management. )

*Strangely enough, now that I've brought it up, I can't find it anymore...
