Default New tools coming Oct. 1st 2012.

October first the CMS with router module only, TI 15 impact driver and the MFH1000 Multifunction Stool will be coming out.

The CMS comes in two versions, the VL that attaches to the MFT/3 and the GE a stand alone unit. Other options are for the basic units or the "set" that includes the extension table, sliding table/miter gauge and dust extraction hose set. Pricing ranges from $1,000-$1,600 depending on what package you get.

TI15 will be available as a set or bare tool, pricing: $525 for the set, basic (bare tool) in a Systainer $350.

Hey Brice

Your footer link to your blog is not working. Looks like a malformed URL.

Like your new site once I figured out the URL!

So what's the buzz on this one? I see the CMS is only available for the router (and only the 1010 and 1400 at that).

- Is the CMS worth the $$$ for just a router table (although with a sliding table)?

- Do you think we will see other tools available for the CMS some day?

- If you bought one would you attach it to your MFT (mine is so tricked out there is no room left ).

- And most of all - who's got one? who's been testing?

Brice has early access to one according to his post on FOG.

i think the stand-alone version is more tempting - you can use it as an extra support table for the Kapex, for the MFT/3, the extensions from the Kapex will fit on it for longer piece routing. It will also fold up and be usable on a benchtop or the floor as a lower profile router table.

It looks on FOG writeup that there is no immediate plan for additional inserts other than for the 1010 and 1400 routers, claiming it is due to UL issues. I suppose you could pick up a saw insert if you happened to be in Europe on a trip, or possibly get someone there to ship to you.

It is a lot of money but I think if you were doing job site work, it might be worth it for the 'system' integration options plus legendary festool dust collection.

Brice, have you heard or seen much interest in the MFH stool by itself or more with the work center attached to it. From the UK sites, the complete package seems more likely .

Yes, I have a CMS for testing/review purposes. The CMS I have did come with the hardware to mount the 2200 but keep in mind I do not have the retail version that will be on sale here in N. America. I'd assume the 2200 draws too much current to run through the CMS for UL's liking, that's purely speculation on my part. None the less the the 1010 and the 1400 are the only router being supported now. The 1400 is a very capable router and you're only limited by the size bit that will fit in the it. You could do raised panels with a vertical panel bit with the 1400.

I don't know anything about the MFH stool. I might have to prod Festool to send me one.

For portable site work the cms router set up works, and let's face it..that's what festool is all about..
In the shop, something like a woodpecker lift, porter cable router and incra fence would blow the festool away. Dust collection doesn't really come into it these days, most table set ups are capable of collecting dust well.
The only advantage festool has is it's portability. It's aimed at the mobile trades person, who's already invested in the festool system.
Not putting a negative spin on it, just the view of a furniture maker that doesn't need mobility in a router table.

+1 on Okami's comments. I waited and waited for the cms unit when it was supposed to come out in 2009. It's a pretty slick unit, but now that I've built a table using an Incra Fence and Incra version of the JessEm router lift, there's now way I trade it for the Festool table. If I did the kind of work where I had to build my moldings, etc. on site it would be very nice, but I don't think it's the best router table for shop work.
