Default Ct22

I am the new owner of a CT22, TS55, 42" & 75" guide rails. I have had now for 8 days and still haven't had time to even try it out. Weddings, etc. The question came to mind on using the CT22 with other machinery. My Unisaw, Robland (Laguna) saw, & RAS are all wired 220. Can I not use the auto on feature with these tools?

Randy,

Hi. Actually, there are two separate issues here - whether the CT22 can handle the dust volume and the 220 V issue.

Regarding the voltage issue... AFAIK, the 220V version of the CT is not sold in the US. So the answer is no.

Regarding the dust collection issue... The problem with high-volume dust generators (table saws, etc) is that the CTs (and all portable vac-like DCs) won't handle the volume. That said, there are several people who have hooked their CT to a cyclone (like a ClearVue "Mini CV06"). I have this one, but have been too busy to hook it up. With this guy hooked up, you can handle higher dust volume.

Regards,

Dan.

Thanks Dan! I should have known that. I'm just a little lazy in this heat. Randy

Hi,

An additional problem in relation to the RAS. The CT will not move enough air (CFM) to draw dust in from the RAS. Unless you have some way to really channel the dust into the hose (pretty tough to do on a RAS). The big scoop type set up won't work with a vacuum.

But don't be to upset about the CT not working well with many larger stationary tools. It will work just fine with all the additional Festool tools that you will have very shortly

Another issue is even if the larger tool is 110V like my Peformax 22/44 drum sander the current draw if sanding anything more than say a 1/32 inch will blow the fuse even on a 20 am circuit, especially on start up. Even if you get past the circuit blowing the CT 33 can not handle the dust volume created by a drum sander. It works great for about 2 boards so if you have a very small amount to sand you may get away with it, but the static is unbearable even with the AS hoses. A drum sander just produces to much dust for a CT.

On my 110V hybrid table saw hooking up the Ct 33 makes no noticable dust collection at all and again if trying to rip more than a 1" thick board the circuit blows.

The CT's work well with all the Festools, though unlike some here I do prefer the Fein vacs. I do not get the variable speed suction, I never use it and always keep it on full power (max suction) and never have a problem with the sanders hopping around, etc. It could be I sand so much the filters are clogged enough to where max suction on my machine is not enough to make the sanders hop.
