Default EHL 65 Planer & snipe/gouging.

Hi all, cool forum.
Has anyone suffered snipe/gouging using the little EHL65 planer? When planing doors I seem to be getting snipe at the start of a pass, just as the cutter engages it gouges. It's not a massive amount but it does need taking out then with a hand plane which kind of annoys me if I'm shaping a door into an old (and un-plumb) casing.
I have noticed the cutter is not quite level with the rear base (but it is very minimal) so this won't be helping but I don't think there is any real adjustment facility to sort this?
Apart from this the planer is great, very handy.
Anyone else found this and a way to cure it?
Thanks.

Tomba,

Welcome to talkFestool.

I don't have the EHL 65, but I do have the Hl 850 E Planer. I've noticed minimal snipe and gouging with my 850.

How long have you had yours? When did the issue pop up?

Regards,

Dan.

Hi,

I don't have either of the Festool planers, but I get entry / exit snipe with my DW unless I am very careful about front / rear pressure. I had always thought snipe was the nature of the beast when it comes to power planes. But I am not a frequent user of them either , so.........

Also have you tried the TS55 for doors?

Since I got my TS55 I haven't touched my planer.
