Glad you learned the not-too-hard way, Rick. I agree - most of the good bargains I got were with Buy it Now (Domino, HP-7).

I've often (every time I go on it) wondered the same thing, not just Festools but many things go up to within ~5% of new cost!?!
I think many (most?) that start bidding get into a "gotta win it" mindset & loose sight of common sense.

I was able to pick up my kapex, ts55 and rotex and ct22 when it was at 20%.

I have bought & sold a lot of items on Ebay, including Festool. I have sold some Festool items for close to new price, but that was when the Microsoft rebates were high. I have bought a lot of Festool items for much less than new price.

I did win an Ebay auction last fall that had nothing to do with Festool at the time, but in the end had everything to do with Festool. I purchased a large Powermatic edge sander from a shop in Chicago. Buying that sander lead me to meeting the Festool gang in Indiana, touring the head quarters, getting to attend an end user training class, meeting a lot of great Festool users & last but not least. Getting to meet Rick C. in person & enjoying some great ribs.

It wasn't Festool, but I did get that really awesome deal on that Mirka Abranet Sheet Sanding System on eBay. And then when it turned out not to be QUITE as described, the seller made it into an even better deal for me than the original deal.

The one thing I would really love to buy but can never seem to find on eBay or any place else is more time... but I suppose that's just one more thing that's NAINA.

Just rummage through Rick's shop, you'll find it. I'm sure he wouldn't mind

Peter,

I noticed today on E-bay, an 850 planer, used twice. Bidding starts at $450 plus $35 shipping. The item is located in the golden bear state.

New price is $490, shipped free and tax free if you purchase oot of state.

What's up?

Neill
