Default Moving splinterguard?

Has anyone pulled the splinterguard off of their guide rail and moved it over a bit to cut a fresh edge on it? Maybe some double sided tape? Thanks

This is expressly prohibited by Festool and no one has ever admitted doing it.
Also, Obama is an illegal alien Muslim.

Don't believe me? Read this.

I tried it... didn't work. The tape just didn't stick. Didn't have time to try out the double sided tape idea and installed a new strip.
Make sure to clean off the old glue first!

I have to agree with Andreas. I've had no luck at all in getting a new splinterguard to stick. Very frustrating.

Did you guys re-heat the aluminum under the adhesive to activate it? Was the humidity very low?

Lately I only remove a foot or so at a time, sorta sidestepping. When the whole length has been moved over I warm up the guide rail and rubber strip with the heat gun then quickly clamp a strip of wood on top of the rubber and let it sit for a while.

While peeling off the old rubber strip, I had it lifting of unevenly. That means that the at some spots, the glue stuck to the rubber and other parts were still on the aluminum.
Should have tried the heat gun....

I get the rubber warm and stretch it off. This helps keep the adhesive layer stuck to the aluminum. If the adhesive comes off the al it's a big problem if you want to keep everything smooth.

F.Y.I. The new strips are supposed to keep the adhesive on them when removed. Haven't verified on my end yet.

My related (making smooth cut edges) question is where is the best place to get the Festool blades resharpened? Does Festool provide that service? Is there some other better place to have it done? Or, is it just better to move on to a new blade?

(I don't mean to take this important thread off topic)
