Default Festool Systainer - Standard

The Systainer- an overpriced, plastic box. Yes, I agree. But you are not buying a plastic box. You are buying a well thought out organization, storage, and transport system.

You are paying for a design not a plastic box.

The Systainer is a part of the tool, not just a case to put it in. If you only have one then it is indeed mostly just an overpriced tool case. But once you start using few of them the advantages begin to stand out.

Simply put they make work, in many situations, more efficient.

Design features to note-

1. They all have the same foot print. This makes it easy to stack and store them in a uniform space.

2. They are mostly incremental in height. Easy to stack and store them in a uniform space.

3. Latches and handles are all flush with the sides. This also contributes to stacking and storing.

4. Latches are very secure. Won’t pop open or get hooked on things.

5. The sides are perpendicular to the bottom. Not sloped or curved. This makes it much easier to customize the interiors or put other uniform boxes or items into them.

6. The tops and bottoms are flat. They can be used as stands, supports, etc. And this contributes to easy stacking as well.

7. They can be latched together. Making fewer trips to move tools on the job site. And when connected make task specific groups.

8. The handles are centered on the top, and run the length of the Systainer. This makes it easy to shift your hand along the handle and balance the load.

9. The size and shape is easy and comfortable to carry with out banging on your knee at every step.

10. Systainers integrate with the Festool CT Dust Extractors (vacuums), Roll Boards, Sortainers, and Sysports.

Festool tools and many accessories come in Systainers. And the Systainers are available empty to put whatever you want into them.

Festool standard Systainers come in the following sizes. All have a 395mm x 295mm (approx. 15 5/8” x 11 5/8”) foot print. Systainer I – IV shown below.
Systainer – I 105mm (approx 4 5/16” ) tall

Systainer – II 157.5mm (approx 6 3/8” ) tall

Systainer – III 210mm (approx 8 7/16” ) tall

Systainer - IV 315mm (approx 12 9/16” ) tall

Systainer – V 420mm tall (approx 16 5/8" ) tall

Might be worth noting that systainer heights are multiple of 52.5 mm,
which makes it easier to build sysports that can be freely organized and
reorganized at will ...

Seth, what a nice write up on the systainers. They are truly part of a great system and I love using them. Fred
