I know this thread is collecting dust but I only just read it and saw the same slop in mine. My quick fix for it was to cut two thin strips of 'slick strip' (sticky back UHMW) and stuck them to the front inner bevel of each side metal bracket. This strip then butts up snugly against the plastic bevel and takes out all the slop and keeps the bracket straight and accurate.
