My guess (and it's only a guess) is that the HP-8 is a lot smaller than the HP-6, and that the fence posts won't line up.

Does anyone want to measure the holes on their HP-6? Given the length of the HP-8 and the pictures, we could probably figure this out...

The reason I asked is that... they could line up. And it isn't like John to not give it double-duty if at all possible.

The HP-8 and HP-6v2 are too different in size to make the fences work with each other. Sorry!

To elaborate, post spacing is similar, but the HP-6v2 has the soles that make the plane have a thicker base. The fences need to be taller on the HP-6v2 to give it the clearance needed to get under the soles. Also, the overall length of the HP-6v2 fences is longer for more substantial reference.

So, it may look close, and it is. But the post spacing is just part of the equation.

Hope that helps!

I bet you went back and checked, didn't you Michael?

Cool tools. Such fun! Is there a working prototype?

I was playing with my HP8 and HP6v2 tonight and the HP8 fences do fit the HP6v2, however only the 90 degree fences will be of any use and only then if they can be used to reference outside the width of the sole on the HP6v2. As Mike says, they are shorter than the real HP6v2 fences, so they can't be lined up under the sole.

I ordered the starter kits for the HP6v2 and everything except the fences was in stock. They are guessing the fences will ship late this year.
