Default You can't have one of these...

... and neither can I. They're only making 50 of them:

Nah - I don't have the spare cash to be able to buy a set of those foxtail planes. I'm pretty happy with my HP-7 that I got off ebay. It'll have to do for a while.

By the way, the sole on this plane is removable, which makes me think that there may be some new soles/blades coming. Perhaps a bit like the HP6-v2. But longer. And shinier.

Ah, I didn't catch the removable sole. Only briefly looked at it last night when it was posted. That would explain the "this opens new avenues for the future" (or something like that)

The last stainless plane was $2,200 wasn't it?

I think it might have been $2500, Paul-Marcel. But it was a stainless version of a previous plane - this one's brand-new. So who knows? The apparently limitless genius of John Economaki is certainly keeping us supplied with fun new tools. It's always so exciting to see what will come out next!

So, this thread is a total waste of time better spent browsing at Lee Valley, Lie Nielsen or even Woodpecker's...
