Clamping Up Inlay Sticks.

3 Attachment(s)
Hello,

Finally after many years of wanting some Bowclamps, I talked Craig into selling me some. The first glue up that I tried was using them to keep my sticks of inlay from buckling up when I clamp them together with threaded rod and blocks of MDF. I put the clamping jig and inlay on a platten of melamine and then place another melamine board on top of the inlay, but within the clamping jig so I can tighten the jig and apply squeezing pressure to keep the inlay pieces from buckling and flying all over. I normally would use "K" body clamps for squeezing, this time I tried Bowclamps with great success. As you can see from the pictures, I used my extra two clamps to elevate the platten so the "F" clamps could clear.

Love it! Thanks Rutager. :thumbsup2:

I'm always curious to see how those inlays get... ya know, inlaid. Keep us posted.:scool:

Nice, Rutager! That's a great jig. Do you have to make a new one for each different type of inlay?

I'm looking forward to seeing what all that inlay goes into.

Peter,

That little jig isn't my idea, Andrew Crawford describes it in his book. I've only made the one and used it on several types and sizes of inlay.

Thanks everyone,
Rutager
