I believe it is just an issue here. Currently, it doesn't seem to matter which YouTube link (with or without 'embed' code) you use in your post, the result is a link that opens in a separate tab. The 'embed' code works on other sites...

At least we can still see the videos...

Well, the missing photos are still a mystery (at least to me), but embedding a YouTube video is not.

Several years ago I created two custom BB code routines here, one for embedding a 4:3 aspect ratio, and one for a 16:9 aspect ratio (wide).
I think the results are better than found on most vBulletin forums (if I do say so myself )

Using the following YouTube link as an example, use just the info after the = sign, and place it in between the start and end code.

For 4:3 the code is "yt43" (start) and "/yt43" (end). Of course the code must be enclosed in brackets to work ("[ ]").

For 16:9 the code is "yt169" and "/yt169"

Using the 16:9 code with the zVw7Cy6jdvE in between yields the following result:

thanks John, it's working
It might be useful to add that BBCode to the top of the reply box with all the other options (fonts, sizes etc..), under the heading 'youtube'. unless its already there and I can't see it?
cheers!

It's not already there, but it would be handy. Fred use to bug me about it all the time, but I was unable to set it up.

vBulletin is written in PHP code, and modifying the screens takes more knowledge of PHP than I have.

Maybe Paul can set it up for us.

Meanwhile, I hope my explanation helps others to embed YouTube videos. Unfortunately, it has been kind of an unintended secret here for a long time. I know of no other vBulletin forum that can show YouTube videos in wide format.
