hmmm,

how?

The wax paper only deals with the work being addressed at that moment.
So, when the work is done, you have a virgin tabletop sans wax.
So, anything resting on that tabletop is not corrupted with wax residue.

Now, regarding the work being addressed at that moment of glue up - wax paper does not leave a residue.
It's like, hmm - Teflon paper.
