Several years ago there was an engineering study posted in one of the trade pubs (either Jane's all the World's Clamps or Harper's Bazaar) which proves that after the clamp force reaches 273lb. the psi is at maximum and applying any more force say doubling to 644lb actually reduces the psi until at 847lb the psi returns to zero. There was no explanation of phenomenological occurrence. Film at eleven.
