Default Cutting existing floor away. Advice?

I'm going to be cutting away some existing bamboo tongue-and-groove flooring. The wood is directly on top of a cement-like leveling compound.

I'm thinking that I should set the plunge on the saw (on the rail) to, say, 2mm (a bit more than 1/16") less than the thickness, make the cut, and then finish with a chisel (though not a good chisel).

Any advice?

Ned
